What do you do when you're not "in love"?

One of the most useful things I learned in art school was, if you are not sure if you like the way a project is comming out, hold it up to a mirror. Seeing it this way is like looking at someone else's work. you can be more objective. Also I have walked away from a project for a few days and came back to it later. Sounds crazy, but it works! Good Luck!

My advice is to finish it. Fabric is too expensive to not finish. You could set it aside for a couple of weeks, your feelings might change during that time. Your MIL will probably love it, even if you don't.

Well, I only have two more rows to piece and attach then it's done. I had to put it all away though, because we're hosting thanksgiving this year (in Canada, it's THIS weekend!), and since I work in my kitchen, I need to start clearing everything out. I'll pull it back out after the weekend and subsequent disaster is cleared, and hopefully I love it again! I like it ok now, and I'm sure my MIL will love it. Soo, it's shelfed for the next week.

I think novelty junkie had a good point previously posted. The colours a all very nice but not quite contrasting enough, except the white. Be careful though as it may just stand out too much and detract from that lovely brown fabric you have used. Lots of advice here so sift through and see what works for you. I also remember that when I didn't quilt as much I loved low contrast things so your MIL may never see what you are pondering on. Finish it and let it be another learning for you in colour work.

I did the same thing with a quilt I was working on. After a while I decided it was all wrong and I put it away. Last Spring I was going to a quilt retreat so I decided to take that project with me "in case". Well, I did finish it and was able to see why I started it in the first place. It's beautiful! so, my vote is to keep sewing.
