Deema, keep going! It's going to come together better the more rows you add. I think it's looking good.

A quilt I've been working on for DD for TWO YEARS is the one I dislike most. I think SHE will like it, it's the colors she wanted, but not my style. Neither of my girls like quilts (GASP!!). I think mostly they don't like the traditional - stars, triangles, the things I personally love, lol. So this is very geometric, I didn't use a pattern, just made squares made up of a combination of squares and rectangles. It's in browns and teals (bleck). I literally have to force myself to work on it, and hope to give it to her this Christmas.

Because you don't like doesn't mean your MIL won't. Go ahead and finish it, look at the $ in the fabric.

That happened to me recently. I started trying out different borders with the blocks I had pieced and it gave a whole different look to the quilt. I liked it much better with the new border selections.

Keep on going...vision what it will look like if you put the mingled gold looking fabric as a border...could really look rich.

Or redesign it for something you like.

Is it the block....if so...use what you have cut and rearrange
    them...rows...maybe.

Play...see what you come up with.
This is what I do anyway...makes me feel creative...maybe I am just playing.
One reason I am soooooooo slow.

Lots of great advice...I would finish it..I think you are off to a great start and as others have mentioned once it's quilted and bound...then it will shine.

I agree with all the others. It will be wonderful when it is finished. I think you will be surprised with the finished product. Keep going on it. I'll bet your MIL will love it.
