Material is too expensive here to make anything that I didn't like...

Deema: Your colors are so rich and warm. It is a lovely quilt and I would urge you to keep going and finish it. You might be in for a lovely surprise. By the way, love is an action, not a feeling. If I were your MIL, I would be so grateful for such a beautiful quilt.

There have been a couple quilts that when I started I said that I didn't like. Mky youngest daughter would say to me "Mom you always say that and when it's done you like it." She was right. Once I see it done, it always looks so my better than what I thought it would.

Would you like this better if you put the light strip in the middle so the brown frames the larger block? Maybe the white is too strong compared to the other colors.

I thought about that too, and I think I would like it better with the white in the middle...but I don't have the time or energy to not only tear apart the rows already sewn together, but also tear apart all of the other blocks too...*sigh* My reason for putting the brown in the middle is because I saw a WW quilt where one of the bordering fabrics was very similar to the large block fabric and they really blended together, which in my eye, defeated the purpose of the pattern. I didn't want that to happen to my browns, thus the white. I'm going to bind it with the white too, and I'm thinking it will maybe pull some of the drama out of those white framing strips! LOL

Now that I have a bit more of it sewn, and the pattern is showing through more, I'm liking it better, and starting to see the bigger picture...I'm going to finish it and hope the love returns. I really do love each of the fabrics separately, and I really think my MIL will love it, too.

It can be difficult to work on a project that you've lost your love for. Maybe if you can focus on how much enjoyment your MIL will receive from the quilt, it will help you find the motivation to finish it.
