I USE MY BERNINA 165 ON A REGULAR BASIS. THE SAD THING IS THAT IT IS NOW PHASED OUT AND IS HARD TO FIND THE CARDS FOR IT. I MAKE TOWEL SETS FOR GIFTS, ESPECIALLY FOR WEDDINGS,AND ALL MY QUILT LABELS, WITH A PICTURE DESIGN TO CO ORDINATE WITH THE QUILT. AN OCCASSIONAL BUTTERFLY FREQUENTLY ENDS UP SOME PLACE ON A FINISHED QUILT. THE FAVORITE TRICK IS A SEAM THAT DOESN'T QUITE MATCH, LOOKS WONDERFUL WITH SOMETHING COVERING IT!

I have two machines and I love them. Great for making gifts for friends and family. Baby quilts, bibs, burp cloths, clothes, towels and lots of other items are fun to embelish with embroidery.

I also make quilt labels, quilt blocks and I "re-purpose" thrift store denim shirts into embroidered cropped shrits, and I embroider dish towels and things like that. I've even embroidered my husbands underwear when he aggravated me a little bit. You might keep that little gem of information from your husband since he wants to get you the machine :D

I haven't used mine for awhile, but your table runner sure inspired me. I would never have thought doing that! I've made Christmas stockings etc, I've even used it to do borders, and thought about just the outline type stitches for use in table runners. Where was my mind! On second thought, don't answer that! Just a quick question, what kind of thread do you guys/gals use? Any favorite brands...any real good deals on thread?
