[quote=craftybear]take it easy today and I hope you find your gel cushion
(never heard of a gel cushion)
Crafty bear, a gel cushion is a specialized cushion which holds a gel that adapts to your weight and shifts itself accordingly. As a nurse, we use them a lot for patients who are in wheelchairs and we don't want them developing pressure ulcers. Thanks for the kind words and I am taking it easy.....I'm reading every's QB advice and looking a beautiful pictures! Next I plan on picking out a block I like to create a pillow case for my cushion. If I'm going to be sitting on it quilting......it should look the part! :)

When you do your yard sale/thrift store browsing, look for a good, comfortable, well-padded secretary's chair (the kind without arms).
Be sure to try it out before you buy, as some "fit" and others don't.
I got one a few years ago that was almost new for only $10! Before that I was using a dining room chair and it was just not the right height even with a cushion.

I have an old office chair that I use. Its not too bad, but sometimes I even sit on a pillow. My ironing board is in a different room...so I do travel. Right now since I'm hand piecing I sit in front of the tv on a chair that could use alot more padding.

Look for a drafting chair that lets you not only adjust height but tilt as well. I actually prefer chairs without arms on them as well because they get in my way and are never the right height (this makes me sit in very weird ways that are not good for me despite the chair being ergonomic to the rest of the world :) )

I have an old office chai but I took the back off of it cause I never sit back in the chair anyway. I recovered int in a nice print. It has an adjustable seat height and casters so I can roll across the room to my ironing board. My DH wanted to get me a "real" office chair but I like my chair.

I wish I could use something other than a stool but I need to be at a certain height for my bench and treadle. If I am in my house using one of my treadles in here I have a vintage sewing chair made just for treadles. It has lots of padding and a low back to it.

I think it is a Sew Fit chair? it adjusts for height and for lumbar support.
