I have learned everything I know about quilting from books, the internet and good ol fashioned trial-and-error, but I do ok!

One thing that I want to try is PAPER PIECING -- I keep reading about it and looking at the tutorials, etc., but I still just don't get it. I can't find any classes or workshops in my area (Pasadena, CA), but some day I will tackle this

I would love to be able to have perfect hand quilting stitches. I want to be able to make a quilt to keep... using older looking (1860's) fabric. I'd love to so more applique and make wall hangings to go in my home for each season. I would love to be able to make money quilting for others.

I want to do wholecloth, at least one quilt completly by hand, and get much better at quilting and applique. I also want to do a colidescope (sp) lone star.

Im retired so have spent the last 5 years watching all the videos on the web and Tv that I could find.
I have learned so much and know all the different methods for doing things.
Right now I am facinated by seeing what various blocks do when combined with other blocks. Its amazing the difference some combinations make in a quilt.
For a cheap way to see some combinations get the Quilt Wizard software and play with the blocks. Its only 29 dollars and worth it.

To some of you who want to study with international teachers, in the past I was active in Embroidery Guild of America, which does anything with a needle, and they had national meetings in this country and brought teachers from England at times. You might try them to see if they are having teachers like that still at their yearly seminar. Cheaper than going to England. Some people think they only do needlework but they also do quilting.
