A Dear Jane, with white background and rainbow colors for blocks, and gray prints for the outer triangles. Also possibly incorporating gray in other ways- sashing, binding... Would that be weird?

I like the idea of it, but I have such a hard time visualizing... Or rather, visualizing accurately!

Sometimes if I can't see it my head, I take out grid paper, do a simple block/quilt drawing and color with colored pencils. I've found it very helpful. :-D

    Yes, that's a good thought. Thanks. :)

Can you draw out little "blobs" of color, with the sashing you want, and the colored triangles you want. Then stand back and take a look. Without drawing it out though, offhand, I think it sounds good!!

I've been collecting fabric for a DJ myself. Having a HARD time finding batiks in true grey (most are either bluish, greenish, or brownish). I want at least 5 different gradient grey's - the kind that read as solids - not the "printed" batiks. So far I have .... (drum roll) ONE grey that I like. Sheesh.
