I really like this! I do hope you can find all the blues you need to do it. May take a little time but I bet you do find them. Of course then you will have to post a finished photo. Wish I had seen this before as our guild is doing a monatone quilt competion ... I would of loved to do a quilt like this . But I am not doing the comp as the quilt has to be finished too soon for me . lol Good luck on making this one

You know - there are gradiant fabrics that contain many levels of blues or purples, etc in one fabric. I got one not too long ago. i will look in my invoices to see if I can find the ones I'm talking about..... Ohhh! I found it! I got it at Cheryls Quilt Corner in Oklahoma. I will try to post a picture.

I personally like the design very much. I think I would go with small prints, textures and solids combined. I would probably use a combination of two colors like blue and yellow, if I couldn't find enough shades of blue. The design does not look like a difficult one yet it will take a considerable amount of time. I think you will end up with a beautiful quilt.

It is a stunning design, love the color fade from one to the next.

If you don't already have fabrics in your stash, go to www.thousandsofbolts.com and use their 'color picker' to help you find the exact shades of blue that you need. Add them to your cart to see your entire selection together and you should be able to tell if they would work in your design.

I just read about this the other day here on the message board and was blown away by this feature AND the low prices of the fabric.

See if that helps you find the fabrics you want.

I wish all fabric sites had this feature. I saw one, might be Connecting threads, that also had a design wall so you could see your selection, but not sure if it was there or not.

It sounds beautiful. I like tone on tone and I am presently working on a bargello with 18 shades of red. I have to give Carol Doak credit for this idea, but I have used it several times with success. She says to "check BOTH sides of the fabric - after all you paid for them both". Sometimes you can get lucky, and no one would ever guess that the lighter version is just a back of a darker one. Looking forward to seeing you finished quilt. I think of tiny prints as a little salt in the stew.

Nancy Zeman has done a few programs using gradations fabrics and the results are stunning. I've used them and it's fun to play around with the different shadings. You can get many different shades in the same fabric, selvedge to selvedge.

Has anyone suggested Jinny Beyer fabrics? Her quilts are always made with gradations of fabrics from her own line.
She has a quilt in F and P's Love of Quilting magazine, the May/June 2010 issue.

Your quilt project looks so pretty. Myself I would use small prints, mainly because they would be easier for me to find. Keep us posted of your project, please.
