    Scrappy is just that..
I will only buy fabric to tie the scraps in.
Otherwise I use my scraps to clear them from the sewing area..

There is scrappy and controlled scrappy. To me scrappy is just that, from this and that. Controlled scrappy is something done from all different same color family fabrics, ie all different blue fabrics, black/white fabrics, etc. I do some planned quilts but my heart is scrappy! This year is the year of the scrap quilt at my house, I am trying to use up my stash and my left over scraps. So far I have made 1 baby quilt from scraps/stash and am working on a third quilt that the top will be from scraps, I will only buy the backing.

my squares are 6" - that is because they are sewn to used dryer sheets.
My "crumbs" go to the local school art teacher. They are "Real Small"
I hope this works, I have never tried to reply to a message!!!

This has been a wonderful topic to follow. I just finished these 2 little ones that I "coordinated" using tea dye.

    These are from leftovers

I would classify them as scrappy!

I think that sometimes people make scrappy like you do using all scraps and then there are those who make "controlled scrappy" for those who do it like the people in your group. It's all a matter of what makes you happy as well as less intimidated some people just can't do it, it stresses them out and they feel like they have no control or it just won't look right. Obviously for alot of us that is not the case. :-D

I like your avatar. Scrappy sometimes, (at least for me) means using what U have on hand, and possibly not worrying about whether this and that are going to match. My worst problem I have is making use of lights and neutrals. :-P

I like scrappy so I can use all those little leftovers because I can't stand to throw anything away!!! I'll use my yardage for a planned quilt.

I don't see that it matters at all where the fabric comes from for scrappy. If scrappy is all different fabrics, at some point there will be a scrap; what difference does it make if it is cut from the first of the yardage or what's left over, and if you LOVE it, use it either way! I love scrappy and whatever it is made from is fine with me.
