I like most of the suggestions but I would be DYING to work a little of an Amy Butler pattern in there somewhere! Maybe the binding and back?

But...you may want to press for a few more fabrics. I'm afraid that you'll be disappointed with only three -- you'll miss some of the complexity that could come out.

However, it will be your work, and it is your daughter, so if she's sure about what she wants, go for it and don't look back!
I agree on all points above.

I have made two of these. One with black and one with a light blue background. Both turned out wonderful.

That's an interesting pattern. Do you have a pic of the fabrics she chose?
Have you considered a D9P with the yellow as the center square?

I think your colors will work well with that pattern. It doesn't look like it would be too difficult. Whatever you decide on, I am sure she will love it

I like the first sample that Leatheflea made, but I'd add white... either in the closed diamonds on the larger open pieces between the chains (I know, clear as mud). I also think those colors would be very nice in a Double Irish Chain.

I definately think you need to add in some prints with bold colors to balance all that solid. It will come out good, but need more colors and some prints.

I was thinking of using the yellow as the background color.Need your opinions please. :?

Here's one version of how it would look
I'm shocked that only three colors could work for this, but I think you have something there! That will be a wonderful quilt! That is one lucky young woman you are quilting for!
