Nice start. I've not done many log cabins, except for a couple of table runners. I've had a quilt for my daughter for several years and just can't get into it.

Log cabins are timeless. Your color choice is very serene and will look nice with many decors.

I think it is going to be beautiful, your color choices are great, rather neutral that anyone would love. Lucky friend, retiring and getting a wonderful quilt - life is good!
