I have gone to Joanne's and bought three different sizes of those decorative boxes that stack. The hold a lot and look nice stacked on my shelves. I also have a big one near my quilter that I keep things I use for it. You can get them in different themes and colors.

I went to a garage sale and at the end, they were going to throw away and zippered cosmetic case with three main compartments and several plastic areas inside. I bought seconds of all the things that I need, like pin cushions, rotary cutter, blades, etc. and it is always ready to go when I go out to sew.

I have a Tupperware Modular Mate rectangle 1 to the left side of my sewing machine at all times (it's about 7 X 10 X almost 2 inches deep). In it are the things I use all the time: the most used feet, bobbin donut (pin cushion fits neatly inside it), scissors, wooden skewers, pen and pencil, add-a-quarter ruler, a few safety pins, fray-check, and the spools of thread that I have used from lately. If I need it to go to a class, I usually have to remove several of those spools of thread to get the cover on. Then, when it is sealed, it goes safely to and from class without losing anything.

I am like #1piecemaker, it would take a pretty big trunk to hold all mine....I don't travel with sewing items so mine are all in different storage things in my sewing room...
