    I will just stick with a binding to finish off my quilts.

    I know it as a "knife edge finish." It's where you turn the raw edges of the quilt to the inside (abt. 1/4") and close the edge with a blind stitch or ladder stitch.

    Knife edge is not the same as facing, but both are finishes that don't require binding.

    That was amazing....I wish I had known how to do that when I had similar points.....I did regular binding and it was a pain.....

    I learned how to do different facings, plain and simple from this book: Just Around the Corner by Kari M Carr

    For a no show edge for the front, I turn the border to the back.

    Facing are used on art quilts as the finishing edge rather than a binding. This gives the art quilt a more "finished" look than a binding does.
