Happy Birthday to you. I find the Brother machines are work horses for the price. Also the embroidery machines. Happy stitching, no matter what machine you buy.

Happy Birthday and go for the embroidery machine!

Younger DD just had her baby girl and she's already got some awfully cute personalized stuff----------including a fancy burp rag with her initials on it.

There's just so much you can do with an embroidery machine.

I was just about to suggest a Brother. I have two. One is an embroidery/sewing machine. But truthfully, I use my Kenmore 18 or 22 stitch that I bought in early 1990', or my 1950s Singer or my lovely Featherweight from 1936.

I just upgraded to the JanomeD 2010 and I had a Simple Singer from WalMart before that. I looked at the real expensive Janome...looked like more than I needed... and I still am getting used to this one. It was $400. Right now for me this is enough. But the big thing is to like your dealer.

I ended up with a Brother embroidery/sewing machine. So far, I love it. My Janome is my first love, but this Brother is turning out to be a fun machine. I don't think its the work horse my Janome is, but I may be mistaken. Anyway its a fun sewing machine, but hubby spent more then what he thought he'd spend and never balked at all on the price. What a great Birthday I had. Thanks for all the Birthday wishes.
