Default What happened to the Alzheimer's Quilt Initiative?

I was thinking of making some small quilts for the Alzheimer's Quilt Initiative program and see that none of the links are working and a message that the initiative is now closed to the public. Does anyone know what happened?

A worthy cause but I can see it taking up a lot of Ami Sims life. She will be glad to get back to just quilting.

I can certainly understand her decision. There are other worthy causes that would appreciate your donation. Quilter's Dream takes donations for ALS patients and All People Quilt is still accepting pillowcases for their Million Pillowcase Challenge. And, of course, Quilts of Valor and Wounded Warriors Project.

Can you contact the Alzheimer Association in your state or another? The owner of the Denver Broncos, Pat Bowlen stepped down today because of this devastating illness. I can only hope that his level of celebrity will bring more awareness and more resources for research etc.
