Thanks for the idea. I have my lace wedding dress from the 70's that my daughter doesn't want for her wedding. She is planning on selling her wedding dress but maybe I could make something out of mine.

    Default Wedding gown recycled

Years ago, after getting divorced from my first husband, my second husband and I gave birth to our first son, who is now 42 years old. I had my wedding gown from my first marriage stored away, and we decided that it would make an excellent bassinet cover, and it did. Also, I used my oldest daughter's wedding gown to make a christening gown for her daughter. Can you tell I like recycling?

0h munner: I, too, have made baptism dresses, but from First Communion dresses. Each of the girls' First Communion dresses were made into gorgeous baptismal dresses for THEIR own first babies. Sure is hard to cut into those dresses though!!! At least they got recycled.

I made my granddaughter a first communion dress out of her Mother's dress.
We saved just the top of the dress, in hopes that maybe some day her daughter could have a new bottom put on and just use the top with it, as the top had so very much beading and lace on it. Also made her American Girl doll a first communion dress to match my granddaughters.

I still have my wedding dress in a sealed box and all 3 of my girls are married. I have been thinking of cutting it up and making angel tree toppers for the kids Christmas trees out of it. It's on my "to do" list.

When I was selling bears all over the USA and beyond, I made ..who would have thought...teddy bears from wedding gowns. Also used mens suits, fur coats, jeans and flannel shirts from family members to make bears as special memory items for families. While with Silver Dollar City as a craftsman, I made dresses for my porcelain dolls that the people would order. Now that shabby chic is the thing, make anything you want to go in a room. I would cover photo albums and things like that with the satin. All things are possible when you love crafts.

I have cut up a wedding dress to dress a vintage doll. My husband won't let me cut up my wedding dress. We had only boys and they are all married but none of the girls they married were small enough to fit in my dress. So it hangs in a cedar closet covered up for the last 38 years. But someday maybe a grand-daughter will were it.

I used my nieces' wedding dress to make a baby quilt for her first child. It came out beautiful with the lace and beads and satin roses all used in the quilt.
