Maybe it was from a fabric exchange. The persons name started with M... Could she have donated 65 pieces in the exchange?

I would guess that she had some sort of plan for a quilt and the labels indicate position (row/column) that piece would be.

Another possibility is that she had a listing of her fabrics with information about each and that was the code for that fabric.
