I love a stool, I've bought two rolling office chairs and I do not like them, crabbed the stool one time and now that is all I use. My knees do not hurt, they are straighter.
I have most of what I need now, except lots more room.

I vowed that this spring I was going to make my small sewing room more user friendly after quilting for five years. I put up a design wall, made the large top for my ironing board and got a comfortable office chair on castors. Am now looking for cheap cupboards for above my sewing table. I just bought an "Ott" type lamp at Home Depot for beside my sewing machine. It's by Hampton Bay and is called an Executive Sunlight Desklamp Model #1227. It's 27 watt. Ott lights only go to 24 watt, I believe. It also has two adjustable wing nuts to adjust the angle. I love it.

I forgot to say that the lamp was $40.00.

My design wall is a sheet of calico hanging on a rod suspended from the top of the wardrobe. The wardrobe has sliding doors so I can still access stuff inside without taking down my "wall". Works for me!

Wouldn't be without my office chair with castors. Sewing machine in front, ironing board to the left, cutting mat right behind me. I can just pivot in my chair and do it all :-D

When I sew, I can't do without my books on CD and downloadable books from my public library. My sewing machine is in a corner of the family room, but I'm perfectly content as long as I have a good book to listen to!

I couldn't live without my cutting table. Got it at JoAnn's years ago and I use it for cutting, wrapping presents at Christmas, hooping projects all year for machine embroidery, spray basting smaller quilts -- even the cats sleep on it...
OMG! What an elegant kitty! I would let him/her sleep anywhere!

One of the things I have in my sewing room is a piece of pegboard! I'm guessing it's about 18x 24". A friend of mine put a frame on it so I could hang it on the wall. I used to own a drug/gift store so I had lots of peg hooks around. That's where I hang my rulers and tools. It's never really organized but it's there and it's a great spot for anything that can hang on a peg hook!

After 50 years living in the same house, I finally got what I wanted. When my DH passed away I could re-arrange my rooms to suit ME. I turned my Florida room (15 x 24) into my sewing room. It has a 9' window on the north for lots of light but no sun. I bought plastic cabinets (7' high) with doors (no light fading) to store my fabric with enuf room on the top to store my batting roles. I have a full size cutting table with room to walk around all sides. My machines (yes, I have 4) are L shaped and I have a rolling chair I have to fight with my cat to use. There are two four foot ceiling light left over from the pool table days and I have Ott lites as well. My favorite? A rack my DH made to hold all my rulers and templates. I thank him every time I use it. What's heaven like? I'm in it.

I have two big cupboards with shelves and doors--the kind you buy in a box and build at home. Plastic bins fit on the shelves and the doors keep fabrics from falling out! Also, they hide the look when the bins get more than full. When I got things for my "new" room, I made the mistake of getting a ceiling fan that the light kit has slightly tinted globes. Oops--makes a difference in color selections. Love my cutting table from JoAnn's and I can put an pressing mat on one corner. It can be folded down but it's never cleaned off to even think of doing that. Room for more storage boxes under it.

I love my sewing room but have to share with guest and family when they are here, wish it was a little bigger so I wouldn't have to pack everything away when guest and family come to visit. I love my sewing table. Cookie
