My granny was my inspiration, and still is. As a kid my family spent almost every weekend at her house, summers I'd spend at least a couple of weeks and every holiday was spent there. Granny quilted and was always working on some quilt blocks. She did all of her quilts by hand, hand pieced and hand quilted. I'd sit beside her on those long summer days while she pieced and watched her stories. She let me use all the scraps I wanted and I would piece quilts for my dolls. They were shapeless pieces of fabric sewn together, but they worked. Now 20 years after she has passed I've taken up quilting. I'm still very new to it but I do love it and I'm proud to take up the torch and hopefully pass it to my daughter.

Watched a church group quilt at landlady's house growing up. Loved watching and seeing what they created. Just love looking at older quilt patterns.

Mother-daughter "bonding." For christmas one year I gave my daughters a box with cutting mat, rotary cutter, ruler and coupon for fabric and a beginner class at our LQS. Class went for several Saturdays. Picking fabric, going to class and all the followup time together was a great experience. One of my daughters is married and living away from home - the other was in High School at the time. Made for some great memories.

Having children. When my first, a daughter, was born I wanted to give her something that she could have and pass on to her kids someday. She still has the quilt and is a mother now herself. I hope I get the chance to see that quilt passed on again.

I've done crafts since I was a little kid. At 22, I decided to buy a basic machine and a sewing kit, ordered a quilt kit, and the rest is history! :)

Why quilting-because of it's endless creative possibilities. Had a needle in hand since 5yo. What changed me over to quilting from garments was when I started seeing gorgeous, bright, creative quilts hanging in the LQS. I'm blown away by quilts I see. Got hooked with my 1st class. Fabric has always been my medium of choice and quilting satisfies my passion for fabric and color. There is something about the feel of fabric in hand that is like savoring an exquisite piece of chocolate. Feeds my soul.

A friend and myself signed up for a class on paper piecing out of the blue, she cancelled and I went to the class. I was hooked at that moment, and loved the fact of putting together a quilt as shown in the fabric store. I've put together many quilts since then, and love every process of quilt making. It's just a love of art to me.

I fell in love with my grandmothers quilt which was a Sunbonnet Sue, with floral four sack pieces for the dresses, and pale pink sashing around the blocks. Would touch it and wonder where she received the material (flour sack) as they were migrant workers moving in and around Mexico, and eventually California.
Mom was an avid sewer, but never tried quilts. Fell in love with the theory and made quilts for every class I have taught (former teacher) and am now a principal and quilt in my spare (yea, right!) time.
Am beginning a sewing group at my school-if anyone is interested, I can give you the link for our wish lists, as my girls have never sewn and need skills, social time and great memories as I did when sewing with my mom, and other 4 h members.

I was retired so I had the time and my DIL was expecting. I made a baby quilt and then made quilts for my three other grands. I'm going to make a D9patch for a tablecloth and after that it will be small projects.

It's been a lot of fun and i enjoy putting the colors together.

I was inspired to give quilting a go by happening to view an Alex Anderson quilt program. I had a sewing machine but had never used it because I can’t sew however thought – anyone can sew a straight line, it doesn’t look so hard and so started my love affair with quilting.
