What kind and size of needle do you use for hand stitching your binding down?
    Thanks.

I use an appliqué needle, sharp size 9. Mine are Fons and Porter bought at Hobby Lobby.

The fattest, longest needle that doesn't leave holes in the fabric. I think my best one is a slim embroidery needle -- bigger eye than sharps or betweens. I'm used to a long needle and have trouble getting stitches as small as I want with a shorter one.

Whatever is handy. But usually it's my quilting between which is a Roxanne's 11 or 12.

Toolazy has the point (oh pun my word <giggle>) because there are many of us who have hand issues and can't hang onto a tiny needle any more. I use the length I can handle with an eye that will take the thread and a shank that doesn't make a big hole....for me that's often a John James Darner in size 9.

    Use what works for you!

which ever size works best for you we each have our preference according what we can hold comfortably. What works for me might not work for you. Just try until you find one that fits.
