I am making an autograph quilt, and I was wondering what kind of pens I want to use, thanks.

I plan on making one too! I plan on using Zig Millenium or Pigma Micron pens, size 05. I don't like the finer point pens, this size is more of a medium tip.

I have searched google and read a lot recently! What I've read is not to use Sharpies but to use these archival pens. And be sure to heat set the signatures with a hot iron.

It states right on the Sharpies package not to use on fabric. The ladies at my guild use the Pigma pens and they seem to last. They also come in different colors. It's always nice to have options.

I use Pigma Micron on mine.They are fine point and acid free.

Oh dear, i just bought a fine point sharpie, and i bought another pen called Fabric Fun, i got them at wal-mart. Where do you find a pigma pen please?

I ordered them from Keepsake Quilting a couple of years ago. They come 6 to a pack in 6 different colors. I also got a stamp that looks like a scroll to place on back of quilt and then write all information inside. Real simple system and no sewing on of tags! :D

JoAnn Fabrics carry the pens .....most places that have scrapbooking also carry them.....Most of the Quilt shops will have them too...:-)

I get my pigma pens at Hobby Lobby in the art section.. they usually have a variety of sizes and colors.

Basically anything archival, acid free, should work. Heat set signatures.

You may want to consider stabilizing signature areas for signing purposes, then removing the stabilizer. Fabric doesn't work well with how people want to just zip a pen across to sign. (Ask me how I figure that out... :roll: ) Something iron-on and easily removed...
