I use 505 all the time. No problems even on my kingsize quilt I made.

I only use 505 when I do use spray - more often than not I make the homemade one with flour.

I'm amazed that all the basting sprays smell the same to people! I couldn't stand Sullivan's, June Tailor, etc. The only ones I tried that had no offensive odor were Sulky and 505. Still, even with odor, you need to use in a well-ventilated area. Sulky is more environmentally friendly, I think, but 505 is the only one that seems to work well with all battings (including polyester).

Edit: I haven't used the Mettler web, but have seen some Youtube videos about it. I think it would be less messy than the other sprays. Have no idea how it smells, though.

I like 505 but when I can't get it , I use the Dritz brand I purchase at JoAnns. This week I will stock up since the spray basting is all 50 percent off ( with the notions wall coupon).

Exactly! I think you may get more for the money with June Taylors larger can.

Your quilt shops can order it where they order the 505. I jut started to use this last summer. It really works nicely. Does not gum up needles. I friend has a professional embroidery business using multi-needle professional machines. She told me about it. She buys It by the case.

My favorite is 505. I did buy Spray and Bond at Walmart and it did a decent job. Both are low odor. I tried something in a pink can, can't remember the name, that was so smelly and so messy that I threw it away!

I used the homemade solution mentioned by carslo several posts above on my Celtic Solstice. It worked great. Basically free, worked great, no toxic fumes or sticky mess on my floor.
