I use connecting threads cotton thread for most everything, if I am making something special I use my Aurifil, but as it's expensive I only use it occasionally

I am about to try Aurifil for my newest project. It's not about cost, it is about quality........C&C and others cause a lot of build up of "fuzz" inside the gutts of your machine. ALSO..................never pull thread back out of your machine the way you threaded your machine...... cut the thread at the top and pull the thread out from the needle end of the machine ; that prevents fuzz from all threads
Good tip, I did not know that but it makes sense. Thanks

Use to be C&C was the only thread sold in most all stores so of course everyone remembers their grandmothers using only that brand. I have all brands of thread collected over the years. My newest find is Isocord. It a really great thread and it's very reasonable in price. I use it for machine quilting along with Connecting Threads poly, Glide, Sulky, YLI, Superior, Aurifil, Anton Robson, Guttermann....... If it's on sale at a bargain price, I buy it.

I order mine from Marathon USA. Cheapest I have found and no problems with it. Free shipping over $50. They also have other stuff.

I use Aurifil for piecing. I use C&C (heavy duty) for sewing bags, per pattern instructions.

That is all I use as DH got a big box full at an auction sale. $17 and had so much I gave some to my daughter and my mom. I don't buy small spools of thread. I have all the pkgs of thread from Connecting Threads that I use for top stitching on my quilts.

I started out with Coats and Clark, hated the lint and found a lot of knots and slubs on the thread. Then I started using Star (slightly better, but still a C&C product I think). Lately I've been using Superior's Bottom Line almost exclusively in the bobbin and often as the top thread as well. It's very fine, so I seldom have to change the bobbin. I buy it on the big cones, usually at machine quilting shows, so it's very economical, there is no lint, and it takes up almost no room in the seam.
