Either Coats and Clark on my vintage machines or Aurafil on my thread snob Janome 6500.

I ONLY try to use Prensencia....for piecing I buy the large cone in a 60 wt (thin but very strong and you get a true 1/4 in. seam).
For quilting I use their 50 wt. This thread has the LEAST amount of lint than any other thread, and is ALSO very strong since it is a triple ply .It is also not that expensive.....especially is you buy the cone!!

I love Gutterman, have always used it, can't use cheap thread. I thing I will try and use Aurifil, everyone talks about it on here. But joann puts gutterman on sale all the time and i stock up.

I'm afraid the quilt police will be at my door too as I also use Serger thread. I've never had a problem with it.

My Janome isn't such a picky eater and I've had no trouble with any thread. As someone else said, if it doesn't last 100 years, what do I care? I, and the people I'm making quilts for, won't be around. I have a 100 year old log cabin quilt and the fabric is wearing but not the thread.

I use C&C for piecing and general alterations....King Tut and Aurifil in my long arm. Don't like Guterman but no particular reason; also use Mettler in my embroidery

I do too. Sometimes I even use left over thread on older spools so that I can pitch the spools. I really don't care what color it is as it doesn't show anyway. Just hate to see anything go to waste. As long as it's good, why not?

Aurifil and my older mechanicals do fine with Gutterman.

    I love this board :-D
Actually I am trying to use up all of my garment-sewing threads that I have around, which is a lot. If it's something lightcolored, I use ecru or white. I've used C & C , mostly, but I do have some of the "better" threads from my heirloom sewing that I use also. Even my oldest quilts from the beginning days are still going strong, though some a bit faded.
