What kind of water is best for Rowenta Iron???

Each iron, even within the same brand can be diffeent.
Your instructions should tell you what type water to use.
My Rowenta says to use regular tap water. SInce we have
well water, that's what I use. We do have a filter on the incoming household water. I have had this Rowenta about two years. Had to replace my othe Rowenta because the cats knocked over the other one and broke it. Mine have never leaked.
About once a year, I run a mix of 1/2 water with 1/2 white vinegar to clear out any residue. I pour it in, let it heat up, turn off the heat, turn heat back up, and then let it all out as it spurts and sputters clean. Pour fresh water in, heat up, and then empty again. No problems.

Carrie,
I am "cheap" too but it's not that easy to make distilled water. I believe what you are doing (boiling and then cooling) is actually concentrating the minerals. Distilled water is made by capturing the steam and recondensing.
