Marion, you have 3 blocks in each of 3 rows. I suggest you cut all your 9 colors first, and then play with the layouts. For example, if you choose a two-color mix for each two blocks, you will be happy with those two next to each other. But what about the third block in that row? You need to see for yourself how all nine blocks look next to each other before you begin to combine and sew. Best of luck to you. I'm putting my money on your first choice, one color for each block.
As of now, I like #3 the least, but that could change when you have more blocks/units laid out.
I like the two color combinations like you have them in #2 - but I would vary the combinations so that no two of them had the same colors in them.

I find the second approach more appealing and less matched, but that is less of a concern because I feel whatever way you decide to construct this quilt it will come out great...except for one "issue" that I am a bit hesitant to mention. However, after reading a post here on the board this morning I have decided to venture forth. When I blur my eyes to look at your fabric selection, while they obviously have different tonal values they all "read" to me as being harmonious...except for the third fabric from the left on the bottom row. I can see splashes of colors that relate to your other choices and why you might have chosen it, but unless it is just the way the batik is folded and when it is used it reads as a better fit...IMHO I would look to replace it. I fear that if you use this fabric, it is so saturated in color that it will draw the eye to those blocks first and not to the quilt as a whole and for this reason you might consider another choice?

So here's the variations ... and the fabric that I am using!
Same colour per "box"
your colors are very pretty. Just wanted you to know that I did a scrappy bent several years ago and I have never been happy with it. Although my colors were not as pretty as yours. So in that regard I'm choosing number 1.
alternate colours - Variation 1

alternate colours - Variation 2

And here are the fabrics that I am using

It's going to be a 9 block ...
Thanks very much!

Ooh. Beautiful fabrics! I love batiks, and white-on-whites is one of my fabric addictions, so I'm sure it's going to come out stunning no matter what you decide. But personally I like the same color per box, or variation 1 the best. Just my humble opinion.
Very excited to see what you do, this looks like it's going to be a stunner.
