I use a 1600p professional janome on my gracie frame. i cant do a really big quilt but full size works pretty good. i am making a queen to see how that works on there.

Have you checked into the Pfaff Grand Quilter or the Viking Mega Quilter. They have the large throat and stitch 1600 stitches a minute. It's like an industrial type machine, all metal insides, not computerized. Viking doesn't make the Mega Quilter any more, not sure about Pfaff, but you might find one on E-Bay, I just found one for $635

I use my 1935 Singer 15-91 in a table. That thing is a tank and does a great job. I have also used my Pfaff QE 2048, it does a great job but tends to slide around while maneuvering the quilt.

I use a Janome 6600.I have a lot to learn about FMQ, but so far it is working well.

Think about a Juki--I have a TL98Q but there is a newer model, the 2010. I haven't seen this one yet but there may be something online about it or you could check it out at a dealer (our local Singer store carries Juki, for some odd reason).

The Juki has a larger throat space which makes quilting easier, but for me two huge advantages of the machine are (1) There is a thread cutter on the food pedal (two separate button things.) Saves a HUGE amount of time.
and (2) Knee lift presser foot lifter. Also saves time and makes sewing so much easier. You would not believe how much time these two helpers save.

Only a straight stitch with reverse, if you can live with that. These machines are available from online stores at the best prices if you can run them down. I paid about $800 for mine at Pocono Sew & Vac and it was selling for way more at the Houston Quilt Show.

ADDITIONAL FEET: When I "upgraded" my machine from Elna to Brother/Laura Ashley I found that the included feet attachments were 90% different - what was included with one machine wasn't included with the other - but that the attachments were interchangeable to the other machine! I found that the $100 that I would have gotten for the machine trade-in wasn't close to the value of replacing the foot/attachments that I really liked.
END RESULT: I still have my old machine and can take it with me for classes or traveling (smaller and lighter than my new machine) -- but I have access to double the selection of attachments - including my old favorites.

Pfaff Quilt Expression. Much larger throat and heavy enough not to move around when I move the quilt. I saw a Pfaff Expression 4.0 for sale here on QB at a very good price.
