I have a Janome MC 6500 and it does FMQ wonderfully. I don't have any problems moving a queen quilt around under that needle with the size of the throat on that machine.

It's encouraging and instructive to hear your process of FMQ.
When you do mark your design, what do you use?
I'll have to make some more quilt sandwiches and practice, will keep your tips in mind.
    Thank you

I use a Sewline pencil, a Frixion pen or marker or an Air/Water Soluble marker, whichever shows up the best on what I'm quilting.

You'll have the hang of it in no time - it really does become automatic to some degree - you don't even have to think about what you're doing. :)

Viking Designer SE - largest I've done on it so far is a oversized full size quilt - up next is a king size - not really looking forward to it though - I've been dreaming of getting a Sweet Sixteen for quite a while, would like to get one before I tackle the king quilt, but I'm weighing the cost of the Sixteen with all the other things I can do with the $$. I love to free motion!

I've not heard of those brands, where do you find them, online or in stores?
I hope that I'll get to that point where it seems automatic, I think creativity has something to do with it too.
On another note, when I follow the link to the posts, I can't find the account login so I can reply. When I reply and hit send, it won't post?
    Thanks again.

I use my Brother 4000D that I purchased used from a member on here! LOVE that machine! The Laura Ashley Quilter (by brother) is an awesome quilter and is 40% off here in Canada right now. That is ALOT of machine for $1700. You might want to look into that.
Going from one brother machine to another is alot less of a learning curve, and you do get alot of value in a Brother, and very few headaches
