I have the Bernina 830 that I use all the time now but do have the Bernina 200E to take for a class.

I have an old Euro Pro, that I purchased just to make some valances and for mending. I was hand quilting at the time. Now that I'm machine quilting, I find the throat opening far to small....only 5" x5". It does great straight stitches, but I am looking for a machine with a much larger opening so I can free hand quilt. Any suggestions.

I love your pink machine. :-D

An Husqvarna Designer SE Limited Edition, a Baby Lock Espire and a Brother CS5000 for classes. Except for the Brother, all the rest, including my Huskylock 936 serger, have been discontinued right after I bought them. I'm afraid to even look at another machine to purchase because I'm sure it'll be on the chopping block too!

When you are looking for a new machine ask your dealer how long it has been on the market. That is a good indicator on when the manufacturer will "retire" that particular model. We are proof that most machines NEVER permanently retire they just go to assisted living enviroments.

lab fairy, I love the "assisted living environments" you describe for the out-of-production machines. All the machines I have are great and I love them. To trade them in or sell them would be out of the question. I use the SE and Baby for my quilting because they are both wonderful. The trouble with buying brand new just released, blah, blah, sewing machines is, like anything else, there's bound to be bugs and whatnot that have to be fixed. I guess I just like the tried and true.

I use a Janome6600P. I have had it for years and it is a dream to sew/quilt on. I have it in a Quilter's Dream cabinet.
I do try to sew EVERY day. I retired 2 years ago and still feel as if I am playing hookey!
