    Have you ever used the "tri-rec" ruler? I love it and have used it for years. The ruler eliminates the problem of where to align the fabric for that pointy triangle! Many uses - "storm at sea" etc. it also helps with the left/right opposing side triangles.

    it looks like there are curves but there are only straight pieces! the large one paper princess and qm showed look like curves. very pretty quilt!

    there is an easy way to strip piece the block on the left by making 5 x 5 blocks, alternating white and bright squares. you will have 25 squares, and there is some waste in triangles that you can use in something else. make a large template of the block shown and lay over the 5 x 5 square block. Cut leaving points that show when sewn together. i love strip piecing and this would be quicker for me instead of making triangles to sew together one at a time.

    They are half square triangles in the main, and you would not need a pattern - very simple to work out. You would find it even easier on grid paper.
