What is This Notion?
At my guild's Christmas party this year we were given a goody bag full of quilty stuff. The pictured device was included, and I don't know what it is. It is 6" long and the 1.5" metal tip is serrated but not sharp like a razor blade.
Has anyone seen one of these before?

It's a seam ripper. Gypsy Quilter has one: Rip It Away Seam Ripper by Gypsy Quilter
I've seen them at Walmart, JoAnns, Hobby Lobby and in quilt shops. Several different brands of them available. It was a new notion about a decade ago when someone discovered the eyebrow shape tool would work as a seam ripper.

This should make for some interesting conversations at your next Guild meeting.
Meanwhile, I can imagine the emails that are flying around the membership.
I know it has been already ID'd ....
... my first thought in seeing it was that it might be used to "shave" fuzz-balls
that grow on sweaters and such.

Thanks! It's an eyebrow trimmer. I found this on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lay_rDTcLXE
Another thing: when you do it this way, the scrap threads are a little longer because the only one that gets cut is the tight one. That makes clean up easier.
Of course, left handers would switch sides.

It is of course a seam ripper. I received mine at a quilting class. I then gifted the members of the guild one for Christmas that year. They were a big hit. So much cheaper at a quilt shop than at a boutique.
