Dont know about handiest , but handsiest is 4 year old granddaughter. She always wants to sit in my lap and project as she calls it. We spent 2 hours playing with the treadle machine today. Still no holes in my fingers with her peddling her heart out.

My cookbook holder is made of decorative openwork metal, my dh wired it to hooks on the wall. the angled back keeps the book at a good angle, and I love it. Someone told me that pampered chef has one that would work too. if anyone wants to see it let me know and I will take a pic when we get home.

I keep sharp pointed scissors, and a cheap crafty paint stiff bristle paint brush by the machine. The paint brush is great for lint flicking around the bobbin case area.

Me too, that's what I use. I give them to my students too. I mean how cheap can something be.

My favorite tool in the sewing room is a pair of small scissors and the bias square. Of course, I also now need a pair of OTC reading glasses. For applique it's a pin cushion and silk thread.

Next to the seam ripper I keep a fine tweezers. Helps me thread my machine needle and grab little thread ends. A blessing when the bobbin gets all messed up and I'm pulling threads out.
