I would look at places like e bay to see what they are selling for that way you would have one idea of their value before you did any negotating. Sylvia

I just recently upgraded to a Babylock Crescendo (which is fabulous) after having purchased a Symphony just last November. At both dealers, I was offered less than half what I had paid for it. Both told me I would be much better off selling it outright. Paid $2,000 for it 6 mo ago, only $750-800 on a trade it. Needlesss to say, at the moment I own them both.

On the 8900 there is an extra spool holder that you can use to wind a bobbin while machine is threaded. You do need another spool of thread though. Hope this helps. Love my 8900.

I was offered a price with and without trade-in, so I went online to see what I would pay for a new machine outright. It was the same price my local store quoted me with a trade-in. So, I went back to the store, told them I wanted the machine at the price they quoted with a trade-in, and that I would be keeping my old machine. They honored it.

My Janome dealer always has given 100% of the original price on the machine I'm trading in to a higher priced machine, as long as it's around 1 year old. I've trade up three times already.

If he was willing to give you $1200 off, just shows what a mark up they have.

The dealer might have a blue book for sewing machines.
