How do you use your bial maker? I am trying to make a half in finished vine I cut the fabric 1 and 1/4 inch but when I pull it through the bias maker one side has a large fold while the other side is only just turned in so I tried cutting the fabric at 1 and a 1/2 then I got a pleat in the middle of the bias, I am just about pulling my hair out with frustration, is there any other away of applying the bias for this vine

I am not sure what you are making but it sounds like you want to make a vine in an applique. I saw one way to do it is:
1.) cut the fabric 1/2 in larger than you want the vine
2.) then you sew one side down to the fabric by machine with the 1/4 inch seam (if you need it thinner you can trim off the extra fabric,
3.) you fold over the other side and sew it down.

Hope this make sense since I don't have pictures to show you.

the bias maker takes the fabric and puts the fold in nicely when you iron it down, but you have to guide it into the maker from the other side with it between thumb and finger to keep the center of the fabric in the center of the maker....the guiding is up to you... try staking the maker down to your ironing board so that you have a free hand and then place iron to the right of the maker, next to the skinny end... on top of the tape...get a few inches ironed and then just lay the iron on top, guide the fabric in with your left hand while you pull it thru with your right hand.... center of fabric to center of maker.....

Yes, you can anchor the bias maker with a large safety pin to the ironing board. It's not my favourite job and I usually use the sew down method instead.

I use a long pin as a quide: Stick a pin flat on the left end of the ironing board , securing it at two places, leaving a small gp in between (x - x), sligthly over 1/2 inch in your case. I cut the beginning of my strip diagonally, it is easier to thread through the bias maker. When you have a few inches of your bias strip made and see it's nicely folded on both sides, slip the ready end under the pin - the gap you left when sticking the pin onto your ironing board This will hold your folds , press, pull a bit more, iron... Your tape will stay in place, it goes through the pin-gap all the time anf on your left you'll have a nice pile of perfect bias tape.
