What sewing/quilting bad habit have just never been able to break?

If you ask my DH, I sew too slowly. I won't let it sew over the mid-speed to preserve my machine normally. Going too fast is hard on the machine parts & I don't want to wear it out prematurely. Sometimes though, even I get a little anxious. Just once with my present machine I was exhausted & ready for bed, so I jacked it up & stomped on it. Finished that long seam quickly, but DH couldn't stop talking about it for a month!! LOl!

Im a newbie but I have many
I put pins in my mouth
sew other pins (or my seams don't match up and even then I struggle with seams)
I almost always forget to close my blade
and I OVER iron. (i gotta stop that cause I almost ruined a wall hanging that is a gift for my grammy)

Sounds to me like a few more of you could be in our UFO of the Month Challenge group. LOL We are not "official" but we have a lot of fun encouraging and supporting one another in getting caught up on some of those UFO's that seem to gather in dark corners when we aren't looking.
A helpful hint for those of you who like to toss things on the floor, after my surgery I had collected 2 of the plastic basins they "give" you for washing up. I put them on the floor on each side of my cutting table and a trash container on the right side of my sewing machine. When I have snippets and threads to trash, I just drop them over the edge as if going on the floor but they end up in the basins or trash. When I am not cutting I just slide the basins under the cutting area so they are not out to trip over. When they are full, I have stuffings for pet beds or whatever.

I sew over pins. I glue seams. I cheat on bindings.
I throw things on the floor. When I do pull pins, they end up all over.
I use a magnetic near my computerized machine. GASP!!
I use a rotary cutter wrong.
OMG, How do things ever turn out?????

bad habits
1. I have way to many projects out at once and get overwhelmed.
2. I don't always remember to put my rotary cutter out of my toddler's reach, which gets longer every time I turn around.
3. Putting clutter on my sewing table.
4. I get excited and don't double check my cutting or the instructions.
5. I don't always have my seams lined up.

ARRRGGHH - all of the above bad habits but the big one is not taking the time to calculate yardage correctly when i start drafting my pattern. I either overbuy or underbuy fabric and either cut too many strips (boy I am going to have some GREAT scrap quilts IF I ever get around to making them!) or not enough strips which means I have to stop in the middle of piecing and cut more. I have been wanting to try a Bargello quilt but based on the above bad habits I'm terrified to try!
