I'm looking for a flat surface for my sewing machine. I'm not sure if I should get the table top or the foldable table.
The main reason for me to get it is the free motion quilting.
I was told you need to have it for that.
Please give me your opinions on that! Thanks a lot.
Here are the ones I'm considering:

Patsy Thompson uses the first one with a Pfaff, and her quilting is absolutely gorgeous. I saw the second one in the LQS and I didn't think it was that sturdy, but it could have just been that particular one.

I demo'd the Janome on the bottom one it was sturdy and a little shakey at times, but I recommend checking them both out.

I like the Dream World Sew Steady table ones. They make a 24 x 24 as well

I have the 24 x 24 to fit my Bernina for when I take my machine somewhere. I also had a 18 x 24 one for my older Pfaff machine.

What kind of machine do you have? I have a Bernina and have a table made specifically for it. I got it from Dream World: www.DreamWorld-Inc.com.
When you order it, they have you tell them what machine you have and they custom fit the table to your make and model. Mine fits perfectly and I love it!

I have the extention table and I can tell you from experience that table is not what you want to do free motion because it is still high up and your shoulders take a beating the table from sewandvac would be better for comfort it is flush with the machine and it will be easier on the shoulders hope this helps

For the vast majority of my sewing I have a sewing desk that the machine sinks down into. I have a Dream world acrylic insert for it. The machine is at a perfect height.

I have the Sewing Mates one and it works fine for me. What I do is use a folding table that I lower, put my machine and the Sewing Mates on, then I surround that with empty priority mail boxes (assembled) and cover the whole thing with a sheet of vinyl. Kind of like the home made foam board setups. I couldn't find the right thickness of foam board, so I improvised.

I like the other table, but it sure is small. I'd have to butt that up to another table in order to quilt.

The second table looks kinda small. Have you tried each of them?
