When I started collecting fabrics for my Ohmigosh quilt it was very hard to find a large variety of shirting fabrics and they were usually far away. I went to GoodWill and looked at the men's dress shirts. They were nice but selling for $3.99 to
$4.99 each, and not all 100% cotton. I decided to make it with white on white or cream on white, etc. It turned out great, and I had a lot of variety. I wanted it to be scrappy and just picked up fat quarters. It took me several years to collect enough. Shirting fabrics are very pretty, and have a smooth feel to them. It seems like there are more available now than there were several years ago.
