I like 60x60 up to 75x75 or so. They make great utility or lap quilts. Also with some sashing and border fabric they will use up those 16 or 25 block sets from swaps.

I also make many preemie quilts for the NICU from orphan blocks or scraps of fabric. these quilts can be as small as a pot holder to about 50x45. The large quilts are used over the baby's isolette to help blocks light and sound.

I start out with the intention of making a lap quilt which I know in my head is smaller than I like. The quilt usually morphs into a twin by the time I'm done.

For lap quilts I usually about 43 inches X 60 inches. The approx. 43 inch top allows me to back the quilt with regular 45 inch fabric.

I make what I call couch throw quilts. They are at least 48 inches wide and 72 inches long. They drape over the feet and go up to your nose. The quilts I make are stored in my closet until they go in the local quilt show. Then they are given away. This year I will give one quilt to family.

I make 40x50. This is a "Tween" size for Project Linus.

40x60 usually--I use this size for baby quilts and lap quilts. I may go 45x60 for lap quilts. Anything bigger is harder for me to manuver around when quilting with my arthritic shoulder.

98% of the quilts I make are queen sized. Once in a while I make a smaller one or a baby quilt.
