What is Special About the Janome Straight Sewing Foot?

I used to sell machines and will recommend Janome over all others. It's been a sore point for years tho that Janome doesn't set up relevant feet to give an accurate 1/4", like a few of the European names do. Ok so sewing isn't all just about quilting, but they're not going to make feet 5/8" for dressmakers so why not for quilters?
A length of tape along your machine bed will give you your 1/4" guide, just frustrating!
The 1/4" foot that came with my 7700 was useless, infact they were recalled. It's silly that I had to buy their other 1/4" foot to get accuracy. At the end of the day, the tape on the bed really is the best, most visible option. And your straight stitch foot should give you beautiful stitch quality.

Why do we need a straight stitch foot? The straight stitch foot is often used on very fine or very heavy fabrics. This particular foot is flat on the underside to provide an even pressure against the feed dogs and it has a rounded needle hole which offers the benefit of more support around the needle to prevent skipped stitches and puckering.
The Janome straight stitch foot is designed with single hole to allow sewist to sew a straight stitch on lightweight fabrics without skipping stitches.

I have the 11,000 SE and it came with a cording foot labeled H too. Weird, this one is clearly marked H. I looked through my other feet and have another Janome Straight Stitch Foot still in the package that came with my machine purchase. It also has an H on it. Part number 200331009
Does anyone know what the other little hole if sor? I ordered the package for the plate and was just curious about the foot. I'm glad to learn more about it since I intend to sew some pure silk charmeuse pillowcases and I bet it will work great for that.

Yes, Janome also has a H foot that's a cording foot. Kooky.
There is actually another 1/4" foot available, different from the one that came with the quilting additions. In Australia it was $30, but so much better than the supplied one. Beyond me why if they know the supplied one is a bit of a dog (even after swapping it after the recall), why they can't just change to supplying the good one instead. Can't see how production cost would differ much between the two.
