What thread do you use for the piecing?
I've been using the same machine quilting thread, but again am an amateur, so looking to see what others use.

I use what ever thread is the right color for what I am working on- often cotton thread from Connecting Threads- or aurifil when machine piecing. I use silk thread most of the time for hand piecing. but what ever thread I have, my machine likes, is the correct size/weight and color for my project is what I use. the only thing you need to take into consideration when choosing which thread to use is....is it good, strong thread? the weight of the thread sometimes matters (the finer the better for precise stitching= heavy thread means needing narrower seams to make up for the space the thread takes up)

I usually uses either offwhite, white or black Connecting Threads or Omni thread. I get it by the cone. I like it. It can be a little linty - I no longer use it for quilting for the same reason - but I do like it well enough. I don't use the white as often as the other two though. I find the offwhite is probably my most used one.

I use Presencia 50 wt. thread, usually in a grey or taupe for piecing. Sometimes black or white, depending on the fabric color. It doesn't have to match perfectly, only blend. Presencia is a long staple Egyptian cotton...minimal lint in the machine. I get it in 500 m spools at the LQS where I work for $5.99 minus my employee discount.
