I use Connecting Threads cotton or poly. They have such great sales and my machine likes them.

I have used Star, Coats and Clark, or Gutterman 100% cotton thread for years without any issues for years.

I learned when doing civil war quilts, small blocks how much thread can play a part in the finished size of a block, especially when it has lots of seams. I use Aurifil, its all cotton and only has two ply and my 1/4 in seams are more accurate. I use either light gray, natural or tan no matter what color the fabric pieces are.

I am a big fan of Superior Threads. Masterpiece is my favorite for piecing. They have lots of education on their site regarding thread. Their thread is the best for low lint that I have used.

YLI, Signature, mercerized cotton and Aurafil and use 50 or 60 wt in bobbins. I do not always match my thread and bobbins but try and use a neutral when I am piecing lighter fabrics and use gray when piecing darker fabrics. One of my early quilt teachers (30 years ago) always used a sagey gray in bobbin and top.

Ditto...I buy the big cones of Masterpiece in Granite and rarely change colors. For quilting, I am game to try new threads. My go tos are Glide and Permacore. Itsn't it fun that we have such alot of choices!?
