Only Aurifil. It's the only thread that I can get that elusive scant quarter inch seam allowance.

Whatever is the closest color match to what I am working on at the time. Or the least offensive color. No brand preferences here and no issues with any brands.

I use 50 or 60 weight for piecing-Precencia or Aurifil. I usually buy and use the cones because they are less expensive-especially on sale. However, I have another confession to make. I am not one to have a bobbin to match lots of different colors. So, I run out partial bobbins to piece-no one will ever know (you are the only one I have told). I do have a large assortment of threads because they each have special uses. My BERNINA machines like them all. I most often use the above mentioned threads in the bobbin no matter what I am using on the surface.

I use Precencia 60 weight exclusively ever since Harriett Hargrave recommended it in a class that I took from her. A cone of that thread will last me for years.

I always use Color No. 216 medium beige grey for all piecing... holding out my wrists for the quilt police handcuffs.

I've mostly used Aurafil lately and really like it. But in the past I've used anything and everything I had on hand and would work colorwise. I'm definitely not a thread snob! lol

It depends on what type of quilt I'm making. If it's one with lots of matching seams, points, triangle units etc. then I generally will use aurifil 50 wt 2ply since that gives me a more accurate quarter inch seam than other thicker threads.

If it's an improvisational piece, I tend to use whatever works with the fabrics I'm using and I don't worry about getting a precise seam allowance since it's not necessary.
