I have several quilting friends who swear by their saddle chairs. I haven't ordered mine yet....

Thank you for all of your comments! I have a really comfy office chair, but aside from the arms getting in the way, it does not raise up quite high enough. Amazon has a "Dot" rolling stool that looks comfy and won't break the bank ($50 for the purple version) ....may give that a whirl....literally, lol.
For some reason, the Amazon link won't copy....here is the stool at overstock, but it is more expensive than Amazon!

I use an office chair that I used at my first office job over 50 years ago. The company closed and employees could buy their office chair for $5. It's not overly big and made very well. I love it.

Drafting chair for me at my machine. I need the extra height. I can use it at my machine and also raise it up to sit at my cutting table. Solved all problems. Would get two if I could afford it. Worth its weight in gold!!

I have a very small sewing room, so I use a folding metal chair with a padded seat (I can fold it out of the way for cutting). It works great for me, as I never sit back in my chair when I sew or type.

I got a nice office chair at Staples (wide, soft seat) that has a bit more lift than most. Did not attach the arms or the back, so essentially, I have an adjustable stool which easily goes under the sewing table when not in use. I have different level tables. Sewing machine table is the standard 4' x 24 sturdy fold table with metal legs from which I had 3-4" cut off each leg and recapped them with the rubber protectors. It is the perfect height for machine sewing (and I lower the stool as needed). My other regular is a Sweet 16 which is higher and this is where I truly appreciate the lack of arms and back as I maneuver around large quilts. The set-up is perfect for me.
