What would you give for a Singer Treadle Sewing Machine?

Have you figured out the model #? What is the condition of the decals and the cabinet? Can you take some thread and fabric (and a needle) to the store to make sure that it actually forms a stitch when you sew (even if you have to manually turn the wheel).
You want to make sure that there is a bobbin case in the machine and at least one bobbin. Some models use a different type of shuttle; I don't know much about those, but I think it can be hard to find replacement shuttles/bobbins for them. Even on a regular Singer, you want the bobbin case because they cost about $25 to replace (and you cannot sew without a bobbin case!).
I would say it's a really good purchase *if* you do your homework, find out the model #, check to make sure the bobbin case is in the machine, and actually try the machine out to make sure it forms a stitch. (If it doesn't form a stitch, it could be out of time, in which case most people will need to pay a technician to re-time.)

(Side note: You realize don't you, that this is NOT the end? They tend to keep coming home with you! )

A treadle, with not a scratch on the machine OR the cabinet? Like some of the others have said, it depends on the machine AND the cabinet....probably not more than $100...and less if it's a common cabinet and machine.
Examples:
I gave $75 for my Singer 9W.
I gave $100 for my W&W 8
I gave $100 for my AG Mason
I gave $50 for my Davis Vertical Feed (and put another $15-20 into cleaning and refinishing)
I gave $75 for my Redeye and cabinet.
I have 15 machines total, and have less into all 15 machines than many have into their modern machines...and yes...they all work, and yes, I use them! :)

I'm glad some of you like the old machines. They are a part of our history that needs to be saved. MyDD has my mother's treadle that I learned to sew on. She also has my 301 that DH bought me after she was born. She's 54. They are nice, quiet machines, but I like my Janome and Pfaff.

I paid 115.00 for mine a few years ago, in PA. A very fancy cabinet in excellent shape. Three drawers on each side, lots of fancy carving. The machine is in perfect working order but the finish is worn with age. It really shows how much it was used. I love her!

I got a singer Sphinx 1927 in a beat up cabnet for $35.00 at a yard sale machine and decals in great shape, and spent another $20.00 for another cabnet. My DH took both cabnets apart and made 1 good one. looks good and runs good.
