Try not to laugh to hard but my daughter made herself sleeping pants out of the diamonds. If you are over about a size 0, I don't recommend the look.

That's what I was gonna say...There is a Hot Air Balloon Swap that's gonna go on later in the year, I think you need to sign up for it.

I took a class with John Willard at our local college, summer 2008. His class was titled "Spontaneous Geometrics" - he used fabrics like this that were SO effective.

A few of his quilts: http://www.connectionsfibreartists.c...ohnWillard.htm

In this one (Diamond Ring for Cathy - the second photo), the diamonds going around the circle are from a fabric like the second fabric you have, basically 'fussy cutting' - following a strip of the diamonds on the bias and because it's on the bias, it flows beautifully around the curved centre.

The strips make an awesome border - mitered makes it stunning!

    Cheers,
    Linda

LOL! I have the same fabrics. I used the stripe like a piano key border on a Halloween quilt and it came out so cute! I used both of the fabrics for a clown costume. They would make adorable hot air balloon appliques or butterflies.

Ok my first thought AFTER kids quilts was why not use a bunch of black fabric and make more a stained glass color type quilt using the diamonds for the center blocks and the stripes for the edge border? next of course would be beach bags, or grocery bags as well.. those groceries dont care at all what the fabric they ride in is.. library bags (totes) and well those Quiltsforkids seem pretty nifty.. on someone else posted here today on the pillow dresses for young girls in africa.. pretty colorful fabric for little ones and the pattern is a no brainer. I think there was even a request for haiti somewhere along the way too, orphans.. mailed to a place in the US that ships them all in one batch.. just a thought.

With the diamond one, maybe you could make a large star pattern (like lone star).

How about using it for like a "clown paper doll" quilt?
