I am still playing in EQ7. I left all the centers blue and turned as if this were a NY Beauty block. There are so many interesting ways to play with these blocks. I can't wait to see what you decide to do. And how about the swirls moving across the quilt?

There is nothing wrong with your quilt blocks, besides a rather boring layout. There are many cool layouts for fan blocks... look here:

What doesn't work is that the color values are the same. As you look at the blocks, the fans all have the same value (dark). They run together along with the center "circle".
I would do as the others suggest and try some different layouts and see if that helps.
This is not a fan, but is a similar block. I didn't make this, but bought it in an estate sale. It might give you some idea of what I am talking about.

I like your fans! I played with your blocks in MS Paint. If you keep the squares the same, the existing color of the cornerstones worked nicely as a border. If you move your fans around into one of Barb's suggestions, I suspect that light blue will still work as a border.
