What are you making for your MEN this Christmas???
#71
I am making Christmas vests for my hubby and my 2 sons. I also have been working on finishing my hubby's lap quilt plus making him a quilted lunch bag. He always uses wallmart bags and he looses stuff out of it so I am making it out of fabric and line it.

I have a question about the fleece socks. Are they actually socks that you wear with shoes? Seems like they would be too thick. Or are they more like slippers? It seems like they would be slippery. I guess no more than regular socks. duh

lots of my regular knitted socks are really slippers and we all (from Knitting Paradise) use that 'tool handle dip,' to make them less slippery. I personally make two paper stencils...a 2" circle for the heel and a 3" oval for the ball of the foot. then i socks on, place stencil in the right place and use a small makeup sponge triangle to 'daub' the rubbery dip onto the correct place. you don't have to use the stencil, but it does make it neater. After daubing on, i sit in my recliner with my feet up and aim my hair dryer at them for about 20 minutes (or the length of my favorite movie)...then they are dry 'enough' to pull over a quart jar to let them completely dry before giving away. Please be sure to give them some type of anti-slip treatment if donating to senior centers. On the other hand, my grandchildren were disappointed when they couldn't slide all the way down the hall anymore and they quickly learned to turn the socks upside down when playing....gotta love 'em...

I have a guy friend that cooks. I was thinking of making him potholders with the funky chicken machine embroidery designs on them. Also I was thinking of making him a quilt in oblong squares of green and blue with a gecko machine embroidered on strategic areas of the quilt, like lizards are sneaking around his quilt top.

I'm going to try to sew a few doo-rags for my biker husband, and my son needs a case to hold some flash drives for his laptop so I'll try and figure out how to make one of those. After that I'm stumped so I'll be watching this thread for more ideas, too. .

My future son-in-law is a University of Alabama football fan so I am making him a smallish "Alabama" quilt. Will be watching this to get other ideas for the guys on my list. In the past, I have made what I call tab towels - hand size towels with a top that you can button over a drawer handle or hang on a golf bag, etc.
