My is when I won A sewing machine. But I was at a quilt show in Calif. Has someone had mentioned pin cushions? Those are always a nice small gift.

At our guild, when you show up, you sign your name. Next to each name is a number....and you can select your number. (I choose 13 last time because no one else had, but normally I select my age or birthday.) Then they draw five numbers or so, and those folks get the door prizes. You don't have to remember your number, as your name is next to it and they just call the name.

    It's a nice treat.

We have a coupon that provides a 2nd night free in our retreat center that we like to send to nearby groups! We're in Illinois though, so that probably wouldn't be a very good prize for a guild in Texas, lol

Our guild has 2-3 vendors at each meeting and they donate things from their booth for door prizes. The local quilt shops donate a $10.00 gift certificate to be used in their shops each month and then members donate like new items to the guild to be used as door prizes. We have also donated attendance at the workshop (to fill the classes) that are usually held the next day. This works for our guild.

a new or latest ruler, some things from Missouri star sales.
pincushion, or directions and fabs to make one.
if you have a home depot, they cut acrylic for templates really cheap, make some of those, say for dwr or drunkards path.
thread, in basic black and white is always great, or a batt, I love winning those, always need em and hate spending $$$ on them. kinda like underwear, you need it but hate to spend $$ on something that wont even show.

I like the idea of having several small items and letting the person choose one. That way if I already have say 6 seam rippers I would choose something different. I think that way everyone would be happy with what they get.

Don't limit the stores to Quilting only, how about a gift certificate for lunch at a chinese restaurant or bbq place in town?
