Hi I'm curious,

what got you inspired to quilt?

I'll tell you what did it to me.

A co-worker one day, brought a quilt to work. From that moment on I was hooked. I always liked to sew, but never heard of quilting. (I'm from a country, where it wasn't heard of, now it's in the coming).

Her quilts mostly where done by "Cheater panels", but it inspired me enough to get started.

Sadly so, I could never tell her this, she moved to Florida.

So may be you would like to share your story, on what inspired you to quilt!

A girl I worked with 25 years ago. I made one and quit. But got the bug again and have been going cray wanting to make every one I see.

My great aunt. She gave my son a baby quilt hand quilted and she didn't want to part with it. I have it, one day it just hit me! You can do what Aunt Ada did so here I am! My mom quilted but always tied hers I didn't think that counted so didn't treasure them as I should have!

Mom quilted, my dad's mom quilted, my aunts quilted, it was what we did when we were snowed in in the winter time. I guess I just never knew, until I got older, that there were actually people that didn't sew, quilt, crochet, embroider, etc. When I was growing up almost every girl in our community took 4H and Home Ec was a requirement---one semester of cooking, one of sewing. I'm still amazed when I meet a woman that doesn't know how to sew. Even my brothers could and still can sew.


ps, I will admit to having an older sister that doesn't sew at all. She knows how, she just chooses not to. She does, however, paint beautifully, sings and also plays the piano.

My mother. She made one quilt and it was for my oldest daughter. All my kids used that quilt and my DGD wanted it for her bed. It was in pieces at that point so I made her a new one. I was hooked. Now all my kid and family have my quilts..........but I still keep my moms. It brings me wonderful memories.

Generational on both sides of my family. My paternal grandma was still hand quilting at 99yr11mo. She passed away at 100yr4mo.

Both grandmothers sewed and quilted everything for their families

My mother also does it all.

We at one time had 4 generations of crafts at our craft booth-me, my daughter, mom, and g-ma

I learned how to tie my shoes under a quilt frame. It was all I ever slept under until the 80's. All I had were worn out. I started to get the bug then. In the 90's I got 3 quilt tops that were my Grandmothers. I hand quilted them. Now there is no stopping me. I have done quilts from beginning to end. Restored old quilts, hand quilted a couple of old tops for friends, and the list goes on. I love it!:)

I needed to get out of the house and have some adult time without a sick baby! Learning to quilt seemed like a better plan than heading to the bar!
