I agree with DJ. I make hundreds of charity and gift quilts, but have never made the old traditional patterns on my bucket list for me. Along those same lines I have too much stuff. . . fabric, patterns, books and so on. I have a hard time finding the project I saw and wanted to make. Need to bust stash!

My biggest quilting Delma lately is now having not just two new very young "roomies" but as of Wednesday, I have two more very, very young "roomies". I am scared silly of them finding the secret drawer I keep my sharp supplies in. Haven't worked on a quilt for nearly 18 months. : (
(My little roomies are 10 months, 3, 4, and 7, the last children I lived with full time were mine who are 35 and 40 this year.)

I've had this dilemma, too, but I didn't sew then. My youngest grandson, now 4, thinks sewing is pressing the pedal to the floor. He uses his 'guys', small action/superheros to press the pedal, so it doesn't go too fast. He is aware that pins are sharp and knows how to pick them up. The older kids know to wear shoes in the house...

For # 2 - Used to have that problem but it was because I was watching the needle go up and down instead of watching to see if I was guiding the fabric along the edge of my 1/4" foot.
I wonder if you can get a lower table. It seems like there would be at least one with adjustable legs.

Start with something you love, anything...a fabric, a dinner platter,,,a rug,f or inspiration.. I liked the colors on the label of a coffee can , and made a kid's quilt from that pallet. Just use the colors you want from your inspiration piece...you don't need to use them all.
